Carry With You A Message Of Hope

Yesterday I posted an excerpt from World Vision speaking about a new book coming out entitled The Hole in Our Gospel. It asked the question, "What If?". What if each of us who confess Christ with our lips began to actually live out the Great Commission. Jesus transformed this world with 12 men that he discipled. 12 men, who when presented with opportunity took full advantage of the moment and shared a message of hope and truth with those who would listen.

Tonight my wife and I have been given the opportunity to meet with 2 couples who we do not know. These 2 couples have heard stories of lives being transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and the work of IAP. It is interesting that I didn't seek out these people, they found me through social networking and were attracted to what the Lord is doing in my life and IAP. I am excited about our time together this evening and I am not certain what will come of it, but I pray that God will be glorified in our conversation and our spirits will be stirred and encouraged.

I once believed that I was not gifted with the ability to evangelize, but the truth of the matter is, if we love Christ with our actions and words, others take notice. My motivation is not to please man, but in serving and loving others as Christ would, the world takes notice and as a result one of two things will usually happen. Either they will chalk it up as me just being a nice guy or they will be attracted this spirit of compassion and desire more of it in their own life.

We currently find ourselves in a world surrounded by uncertainty, hurt, debt and poverty. When I look at the world as a whole, I am quickly overwhelmed by the needs of so many. So we must train ourselves to look only to today and those with whom we have contact. Is there something, anything that we can do to show compassion or bring hope into someone life? Throughout the course of our day we are presented with opportunities to do just that. Will we grab hold of those moments and affect someone's life for good or will we let those opportunities pass us by? Tonight I have the opportunity to present a message of hope and compassion and talk about how IAP is affecting the lives of so many in sub-Saharan Africa. I trust that our convesation will lead those present into a deeper awareness of the needs of others and a desire to show compassion wherever we may find ourselves as we go through life.
